About Temple
There are many temples in and around Kumbakonam and Mayavaram Kalyanasundarar temple, but Thirumananjeri is one of the most famous Prarthana Sthalas. If an unmarried man or woman appeases the presiding deity, Kalyanasundarar, and his divine consort, Kokilambal, they will enter into wedlock.
History
The unmarried will get married by worshipping the Lord and his consort, according to popular belief. Prarthana can be performed any day between 7.30 am and 1 pm and 3.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Many unmarried men and women gather to appease the deities. Priests perform the rituals precisely and pooja with reverence. In Thirumananjeri, Rathi and Manmadhan were married.
The last leg of one’s tour should be Thirumananjeri after they have visited other places. Faith moves mountains, and reposing faith in the deities will work wonders. The priest’s ritual requires unmarried men and women who prayed for their weddings to visit Thirumanajeri afterward.
A separate shrine is dedicated to Rahu of the Navagraha, who grants progeny to those without children, hence the name Mangale Rahu. Worshipping him consecutively on three New Moon days will also remove the malefic effects of Navagraha.
