Chapters of the Naadi Shastra
There are sixteen chapters, or kandams, in the palm leaves.
In Kandams, various aspects of a person’s worldly and spiritual life are serialized, including family, marriage, profession, wealth, luck, and brother-sister relationships. In some chapters, previous births and sins are discussed, and the problems and solutions of Atri Maharishi are presented in each separate kandam (2 to 16).
The Kandam/Chapter 1 – Introduction
This reading delves into the Nadi seeker’s personal information, including their name, lifespan, identity, and spouse’s name. It also provides details about their parents, current profession, siblings, and children. The chapter then goes on to summarize future predictions for all 12 houses in their horoscope based on planetary positions at birth, as recorded in the Nadi leaf. This information can be obtained through a thumb impression (for men on the right hand, or women on the left), their horoscope or palm reading. These sources will also reveal the names of parents and spouse, siblings, uncles and aunts on the maternal side, children, profession and general predictions for all 12 houses.
Education and Wealth in Kandam/Chapter 2
The Nadi seeker’s wealth, family, and education are detailed in this chapter, as well as their eyesight and speech.
The Brothers and Sisters of Kandam/Chapter 3
There is information about the positive and negative aspects of the relationship between the Nadi seeker and his siblings in this chapter.
The Influence, Assets, and Fortune of Mothers in Kandam/Chapter 4
This Kandam details the Mother’s role and influence in the Nadi seeker’s life, its benefits, and problems, as well as details about the Nadi seeker’s House, Vehicles, Land, Treasures, and general material comforts.
Children/Offspring/Progeny/Pregnancy in Kandam/Chapter 5
This chapter contains details about the seekers of children. Birth, lifespan, achievements, problems, death, and overall performance have been predicted. Remediation measures are also suggested for any problems that may arise in children. Nadi seekers are also predicted to have children or not and details of this are provided.
Disease, Debt, and Litigation/Kandam/Chapter 6
The 6th Kandam contains details about Diseases, their causes, duration, and how much damage they cause the Nadi Seeker. It also provides information regarding Enemies, Litigation, their causes, and duration of suffering on account of the above. It also recommends remediation measures to avoid the situation and positive measures to achieve success.
Matrimony/Chapter 7
The purpose of this chapter is to provide an overview of the Nadi seeker’s matrimonial details: Name of spouse, sacred time, etc. Causes and measures for the delay in marriage, future of marriage, aspects of compatibility and conflicts with the spouse, if any.
The Life Span of Kandam/Chapter 8
Among the topics discussed here are one’s life span, accidents, if any might occur, as well as court litigation.
Chapter 9 – Property, father, spiritual inclinations
It also discusses worshipping places and spiritual inclinations, if any, of the Nadi seeker, their ancestral property, their father, and how they have accrued wealth.
Business/Chapter 10
In Kandam ten, you find out what type of business is right for you or what kind will bring you ample profits, losses, etc.
Kandam/Chapter 11 – Conveyance and Second Marriage
In this chapter, you will learn how to benefit from any form of conveyance, including cars, two-wheelers, etc., and about your second marriage or spouse.
Chapter 12 – Expenses, Foreign Visits, Rebirth, Salvation
Information about your expenditures is given in this chapter. Besides explaining how you spent your money and how it occurred, it also explains Moksha, or heavenly status, any monetary benefits, higher status derived from foreign travel and foreign contacts. Moreover, it discusses your next birth, where it will take place, and how you will live.
(Shanti Kandam) Kandam/Chapter 13 – Previous Births and Remedies
The history of last birth, last birth sins, and demerits accrued in present life due to last birth sins are discussed in this chapter.
Deeksha Kandam/Chapter 14 – Upadesh of Mantras
In this chapter, we discuss the holy mantras (sacred chants) to be recited and the holy materials to be kept in the prayer room.
Gnanna Kandam (Spiritual Life)/Kandam/Chapter 15
The purpose of this chapter is to discuss the development of spirituality. It also discusses the possibility of attaining wisdom and God. The Guru of a preceptor, from whom to attain wisdom, etc.
Chapter 16: Political Kandam (Public Life)
Social service and political predictions.
